This size is by far the most popular and practical size for the VW Transporter when wanting the Swamper look. Most leading tyre and wheel manufacturers focus on the 17 inch market, which means you will find the widest range of styles, finishes, and All Terrain options in this size. Tyre options range from stock 235/55/17 all the way to 245/65/17 , most commonly used for a swamper set up would be a 235/65/17 which works with slightly lowered and standard height vans, lower vans suit a 225/65/17 but this will not have a load rating for the T32. There are also other sizes such as 235/60/17 for a more road biased option with more comfort than the stock size.
